A new time, a new approach

‘These new times ask for a different approach of HR,’ Eugène van Angelbeek says, co-owner of De Veranda. ‘We handled the employment contracts and kept up everything ourselves for 23 years, but nowadays, that is unachievable.’ De Veranda is a multifunctional company with as its main task a brasserie with terrace. The company started collaborating with JAM! in 2020 and is very satisfied about the collaboration. ‘They offer us the support on all things HR related that we could not offer ourselves,’ says Arjen Kräwinkel, also co-owner of De Veranda.

During the corona crisis

‘JAM! helped us get through the corona crisis,’ Eugène van Angelbeek states. ‘They radiated calmness and confidence when a lot of things were coming at us during that time.’ Van Angelbeek en Kräwinkel were especially pleased with the fact that they could keep all their employees employed. ‘That was only possible because of JAM!’s way of working. I think many other hospitality entrepreneurs had to make other choices,’ van Angelbeek says.

The transition to JAM!

‘The transition went quite smoothly,’ Kräwinkel says. ‘We first explained what we were going to do to our employees ourselves. Then everything was written out clearly on paper and together with JAM! the transition was set in motion.’ Taking away insecurities that can linger amongst employees during a transition like this, that is what it is about, according to Arjen. ‘I reccommend the transition, but you do have to take the time to do this, and be transparant about it.’
